Because it’s human nature to hold on to our existing habits, even if they are damaging to our planet, it becomes absolutely vital that we, as a company, focus all our efforts to inventing and producing products that will blend into existing lifestyles and behaviors, making habit changes easier for all individuals.
Since its invention, humankind has produced app. 9 billion tons of conventional plastic. Sadly most of it is still here on Earth. Either in its original form or broken down into the very harmful microplastic fractions, that are now twirling around in our environment. In nature, the ocean, our drinking water, soil, animals, airways, foods, fruits, and vegetables, and consequently in our human bodies and brains.
Globally, it’s estimated that 5 to 10 million hectares of soil are being degraded annually, with 75 billion tons of soil lost each year. We need healthy soils and farmland to be able to grow crops, fruits, and vegetables to feed the human population. With the rate at which we exploit it, pollute it, and take away from it today - without giving anything back - it’s not looking very good for soil health on this planet.
